Michal Jordán

Patent attorney, European trade marks and designs attorney

Michal Jordán was born in 1984 in Uherské Hradiště. He graduated from the Brno University of Technology at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication as well as from the Czech Technical University in Prague at the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering.

Since 2007 he had worked for Linet company, where he has been later chosen for the annual intensive development program “talent management” aimed at management skills. After two years he has been fully responsible for the processing of state of the art and freedom to operate (patent clearance) searches in all development projects and managed the strategy of building a patent portfolio of the company and intellectual property disputes. On these matters he closely cooperated with patent attorneys or specialized attorneys mainly from the US, where during several stays he also became familiar with the local patent law. He also experienced cooperation with attorneys from many other countries. In 2010 he graduated from the Industrial Property Training Institute of the Industrial Property Office. In the same year he already directed the department of intellectual property in Linet, which soon handled the searches and the patent protection for affiliated companies in Britain and Germany.

Later as a manager of the department for innovations and intellectual property he gained experience with managing development projects as well as with the evaluation of the innovative ideas from the perspective of potential applications in the market for medical technology. He always emphasis on protection of intellectual property there, where it has a real meaning for the owner.

Furthermore, he has acted as a lecturer in the field of intellectual property at various conferences and seminars, since 2011 he for example tutored young companies expanding abroad in Czech Accelerator project of the Czech Invest agency.

He currently coaches the technology companies from South Moravian region as an expert in JIC (South Moravian Innovation Centre).

As a patent attorney he is nowadays authorized to represent the matters of patents, utility models, industrial designs or trademarks before the Industrial Property Office and before the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM) for registration of community trade marks and designs.

His main specialization is using the information from state of the art searches for development of new products and innovations, patent clearance studies such as non-infrigement or invalidity analyses.
